His grandfather Raj Kapoor was a popular star also as an eminent producer and director of Indian Cinema. POpular artist Randhir Kapoor & Babita Shivdasani are his paternal uncle & aunt. Performer Kareena Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor are his cousins. He has as well one sister Riddhima Kapoor.

Son of artist Rishi Kapoor & Neetu Singh, and grandson of actor-director Raj Kapoor, Kapoor continued filmmaking and acting at the School of Visual Arts and at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute. He then assisted Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the film Black (2005) and premiered as an artist with Bhansali’s tragic novel, Saawariya (2007), a critical & advertisement unsuccessful. Kapoor set off popular for his acting in Wake Up Sid (2009), in the lovey-dovey comedy Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009) and in the drama Rocket Singh: seller of the year (2009). His most watched movie of this time is the political drama Raajneeti (2010).
The lovey- dovey drama Rockstar (2011), in which he describes a troubled musician, and the comic drama Barfi! (2012), in which he was a cheerful deaf-mute, earned Kapoor 2 consecutive awards for Best Actor at Filmfare. A lead personality alongside Deepika Padukone in the romantic comedy Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), one of India’s most lucrative movies, confirmed her as a lead Bollywood artist. He then starred in a series of movies whose advertisement acting was bad, with the exception of the novel Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016). This changed in 2018 when Kapoor played Sanjay Dutt in Rajkumar Hirani’s biopic, Sanju, as one of his most profitable publications.
